I am constantly on the hunt, it’s the best part of running Again by Clare, and pieces catch my eye for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes it’s a detail, a shape, a memory or a feeling, other times it simply made me smile. I love it when that happens.

I love this… it’s a super cute woodland ceramic set that is full of character and charm.
This vintage set features a beautifully detailed jug with a textured tree-bark finish, a cheerful little squirrel holding its precious acorn and a curved branch-style handle. It comes with two matching cups, each decorated with the same playful squirrel.
Japanese made and in great condition, this joyful vintage find that screams out FUN! Are you ready for some seriously cute fun?
This pair of quirky, eye-grabbing hand-painted toucans are a total cracker. With their bold colour and beautifully naive form, they almost seem to screech at you, singing out to say “Hey, I’m here… look at me”.
Standing at approximately 8 cm each, they’re made from red earthenware clay and finished with an expressive painted surface, crackle glaze included. This pair has all the charm you’d expect from traditional folk art ceramics, paired with the playful confidence of mid-century style.

Who doesn’t love a cheeky monkey? Um… me, always!
There is no guessing why I was drawn to it, he’s a playful charming figure with plenty of personality. He has a semi glossy finish and is a nice weight making it an easy piece to style in any home, especially a home that loves a little humour.

This little chap is in great condition. Light signs of handling only, consistent with use. Any surface marks are visible in photographs.
I love a small dish especially when they’re as pretty and as colourful as this one. A useful place to rest your jewellery at the end of the day or a safe place to rest your keys when you arrive home. All the small things in our lives deserve a special place.
This china dish is called Tropicana Australiana by artist Murilo Manzini, one of the artists represented by La La Land. Bright, joyful, Australian and full of personality, it’s a small piece that instantly lifts a space.
It was the combination of the pink colour with the shell shape that drew me to this delightful vase. I can easily imagine it filled with fresh pink and white flowers, mixed with a little modern greenery, flowing out to echo the gentle curves of the glass. Simply gorgeous.

Saw this and grabbed it. Not only as I captured by the incredibly bright and vivid orange, I also saw it was Pyrex. Win!
This charming set is a highly collectable Australian made Pyrex casserole dish by Agee, paired with a silver plated stand with original orange Bakelite handles. Orange, silver and orange… talk about glam. Imagine the rest of the dinner table and this is only for casserole.
What I really love, what was once a functional piece of Australian kitchen history now has all the sparks of mid-century charm. It is, quite simply, fabulous.

Vintage condition with light signs of age consistent with time and use. Any surface wear is visible in photographs - it has had a solid polish!
Talk about bold. This decorative bull head sculpture has a striking silver finish and detailed surface pattern that gives it real visual impact. Mounted on a black base, it has a strong masculine sculptural presence from every angle.
It’s a generous size, measuring just under 40 cm high, and has a reassuring weight to it although I’m not entirely sure what the material is. As a second-hand piece, it carries a few small marks and surface wear, little signs of a life already lived, but nothing that takes away from its overall presence.
He’s certainly something, and not a piece to quietly blend into the background.
Silver and glass, how can you say no?
This is a very charming trinket dish featuring a cut glass bowl set into a pierced silver plate base. The base is marked Renown EPNS A1 which indicates good quality English silver plate.
Perfect for jewellery and other small treasures, this piece is decorative, in great condition and rather classy. A small piece with plenty to shine about.
The little bit of French text is what drew me to this piece. It is a well-loved French café service tray, marked Café des Délices, or Cafe of Delights, and it is totally delightful. Well worn through decades of use, it carries the kind of patina that only working café pieces acquire. I wonder where it was before now… Paris perhaps?
I was drawn to this vintage Ronson table lighter not only because it remains in its original box, but because it has clearly been well cared for and regularly used over the years. I wish it could share it’s story as it hints at a good one, all glamour and good times. Being purchased from luxury British jeweller, Hancock and Co, as marked on the box, would have been just the beginning.
With its sleek, sculptural form and silver-tone finish, it’s a classic example of mid-century design meeting everyday function. Ronson lighters are well regarded by collectors for their build quality and distinctive styling, and even when no longer used as intended, their design remains striking and relevant.
This lighter has not been tested due to age. Original box included. Both show age-related wear consistent with regular use. It is something rather special, clearly once well loved.
I’m falling for milk glass and here’s a great example. This is a beautiful mid-century Fire-King Oven Ware serving dish, made in the USA from the late 1940s to early 1950s.
Crafted in classic white milk glass with a softly scalloped form and delicate gold gilt rim, it was designed to move effortlessly from oven to table in absolute style. Today it works just as beautifully, I’d personally use it as an entertaining tray filled with deliciousness.
Timeless, elegant and always special.
Who doesn’t love a set? Here we have a classic set of Waratah “Deluxe” aluminium kitchen canisters.
But oh, how times have changed. The second smallest canister is for rice, while the second largest is for sugar. They were clearly doing plenty of baking in the 50s and 60s, and very little stir-fry.
Today, they’re best enjoyed as decorative pieces. I wouldn’t use them for food, although they’re still handy for storing all sorts of things. The set shows the expected signs of wear and tear, which only adds to their character.
A very cool mid-century design legend.
This is a super sweet little handled bowl by Mingay Pottery, and I love that it was made in Australia. Simple in form with softly scalloped detail and a classic white glaze, this piece is all about quiet charm and everyday usefulness.
Small in scale, it’s perfect as a catch-all. Think how good it would look on a cheese platter holding crackers, or simply sitting on a shelf as a piece worthy of display. A lovely example of mid-century Australian pottery.
Stamped Mingay 31 to base. Measures approximately 19 cm across including the handles, with the bowl itself around 14 cm long and 7.5 cm wide. In good vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
This caught my eye as I have seen this pattern on pottery before but never have I seen it opalescent (or is it iridescent or pearlescent). All I know is that it is a million colours, all blues and pinks, across the white and it looks magical. It makes white seem, well… boring.
The jug is European, a piece of Victoria China made in Czechoslovakia. The Victoria company operated from the early to mid 20th Century so to think it’s still as perfect as it is now, all the way from where is once came, that’s something pretty special. The joy of vintage.
This is a classic set of six small vintage amber glasses. Simple in form, smaller in size and rich in colour, they have that easy mid-century feel that works just as well for everyday use as it does for entertaining.
Unmarked but well made, these are the kind of glasses you’ll reach for again and again. A versatile set with plenty of glow.
Sometimes it is the simple, plain and handy pieces that catch your eye. This beautifully understated vintage basket bowl by Kildare Pottery, made in England is just that. Featuring a gentle Art Deco form with raised handle and bowl, it sits comfortably between functional ware and decorative pottery.
Finished in a warm, earthy glaze with subtle variation, it has the quiet charm typical of mid-century English pottery. The warm colour and honest form make it an easy piece to live with. An understated gem.
Marked Kildare and England to base with impressed number. Condition is consistent with age, with some small chips.
This ‘Exploring the Outback’ limited edition Wedgwood jasperware plate was produced in 1988 during Australia’s Bicentennial year. Crafted in the iconic Wedgwood blue with classical white relief, this piece reflects the design language and commemorative objects of its time.
I often struggle with objects like this but I remind myself that all vintage pieces offer a snapshot of how history was interpreted and presented in their time and today often sit as thoughtful reminders of the evolving conversations around place, culture and identity.
Personally, what drew me to this piece was that it was produced for Australia by a traditional English maker. That doesn’t happen often, it’s always good to see it a contemporary take on an old tradition, especially when it involves Australia.
Condition
The plate is in good vintage condition. There are a few small surface marks that I’ve been unable to remove.
This piece has all the feels, it shows signs of real use, with a few small chips and surface marks that speak to its age and history. To me, this creates huge charm and hints at the story of a piece that has been used and loved over time.
It is a classic blue and white serving basket by Myott, Son & Co, England, featuring a softly shaped oval dish and wire swing handle. Practical and useful, the gold edging adds quite the decorative touch.
If you like character, this special piece has it in spades. One of those timeless love stories.
