Olive Green Handblown Glass Bowl

$150.00
NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Stunning. There is no other word to describe this hand blown, olive green wave bowl. It’s curves, three fluid layers of colour - dark, light and clear olive green, and seemingly moving edge makes it magic. Wherever you look you see something different, a change in depth, a different shade of olive green. There is nothing straight about this wonderful bowl.

Another beautiful detail is the light lines you can see and feel inside the bowl - almost as if you can imagine the glass blower expanding the molten glass to create it. There’s something wonderfully honest about pieces that don’t shy away from the marks of their making. This bowl feels like a quiet, respectful nod to the talented person who created it.

  • Height: roughly 9cms (it varies around the lip)
Width: roughly 24cms (also naturally irregular around the edge)

This bowl is handblown, evidenced by the natural movement in the glass and the visible pontil mark on the base. The maker and age aren’t known, but it was sourced from a deceased estate, so it’s safe to assume it carries some age and history.

  • The condition of this bowl is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or marks.

You can see the natural signs of its handblown nature - tiny bubbles and light striations inside the glass. These are expected and do not affect integrity, they simply add to its character.

  • You could go two ways with this bowl.

It is beautiful enough to be an art piece in its own right and would fit into almost any decorative setting. I would place it slightly below eye level to really catch the movement of the glass.

You could also use it more practically in the kitchen as a fruit or salad bowl. Mind you, it would be a shame to hide the glass detail - although imagine the delight of seeing it revealed again as the bowl empties.
