Mid-Century Russian Silver-Plated Salt Cellar Set (With Spoons)

$100.00
NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Salt cellars were once a small symbol of considered hosting (just a wee bit posh), and this mid-century silver-plated trio brings that tradition forward with quiet elegance. Understated, refined and wonderfully tactile, they feature delicate pierced metalwork, original glass liners and petite matching spoons - a whisper of a time when hosts thoughtfully placed one at each setting so no guest ever had to reach across the table.

What I love most about this set is its versatility. The clean, classic styling suits contemporary homes beautifully - on a dining table for seasoning, beside a charcuterie board for flakes of sea salt, or repurposed for spices, mustards or small condiments. Despite their age, they sit effortlessly in modern spaces. Truly timeless.

  • Each bowl measures approximately 4.5cms in diameter, with a glass liner of around 4cms.
    Height: approximately 3.5cm.

Silver-plated body decorated with a flower and leaf pattern

Each bowl includes a removable glass liner and a matching small spoon.

All pieces are stamped with the maker’s mark IOMMET (also seen spelt as 1OMMET, HOMMET, or 1UMMET — all transliterations of the same Cyrillic mark).

  • Overall, the condition is very good.

There is no damage to the silver-plate; the details remain crisp and clean. Some darker marks can be seen inside the bowls, typically around the seams - consistent with age and use.

The glass liners are near-perfect, with only one bowl showing the tiniest chip on the rim.

The spoons show very gentle signs of wear.

  • Pieces like these are brilliant little multitaskers. Whether you’re setting the table for dinner or styling a grazing board, they add that subtle touch of elevation. Fill them with flakes of salt, a hit of pepper, wholegrain mustard, little olives, chutney or chilli crisp - whatever brings flavour and fun to your spread.

Vintage items aren’t meant to hide in cupboards. Bring them out, mix them in, and let their history add a touch of character and quiet flair to your everyday moments. They’re made to be used - enjoy them!
