Size: 10cm by 10cm
Height: 6cms
Age: Circa 1900s“It is stamped ‘Depose,’ a European design-registration mark used primarily in France but also Germany and Austria during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It also carries a ‘900’ silver mark and several smaller hallmarks that are now too worn to read. Together, these markings place the design in the early 1900s and confirm a 90% silver alloy.”

For a sweet little sweet dish that is over 120 year old, the condition is not too bad.
There are a couple of small chips in the glass insert, one on a corner that is internal so whilst you can see it, it does not overly impact the lines of the bowl. The other is a very small chip on the edge of one of the small arcs.
The silver is overall excellent, however one of the silver joins, where two of the lines intersect, has a fine separation. Despite this, it is completely stable, structurally sound and only visible on close inspection.

Art Nouveau was so ahead of it’s time it will never go out of style.
Use it as intended, as a sweet little sweet dish, but also don’t be afraid to use it to hold other items - nuts or dips on a cheese platter, butter on a formal dining table, even jewellery by the bedside. Don’t hold back your imagination, those who designed it didn’t so nor should you.
